The longest glacial traverse in the world forming the glacier corridor of Biafo and Hispar. This is the apex of adventure on the earth to remotest and most isolated place en-route the mysterious snow-lake. This 145 km trek in the ablation valleys and on glacier encompasses multifarious terrain from dusty gorges to the ice and wide expanses of snow to the epicenter of Karakorum. We are equally rewarded by the stunning spectacle of Baintha Brak 23900 ft., the Latok towers 23440 and 22790 ft. anciently this was a trade route between Baltistan and Hunza. We might see ibex, Himalayan bear and other wild fauna.
Arrival Islamabad, city tour and next day embark the flight to Skardu, the most spectacular air journey in the world. Complete two days road journey in case of flight cancellation. A day will spend in sightseeing in Skardu, the capital of Baltistan and the gate way to the great mountains, then will be followed by an exciting jeep ride through the apricot orchards and wheat fields of the Shigar valley to the road head at Askole, last settlement of Baltistan and where the trekking begins. Biafo Hispar trek start as for the k-2 itinerary, before turning northwest a few miles beyond Askole onto the Biafo glacier. Progress up this enormous tongue of ice gets easier as the moraine of the lower glacier is left behind, and the overnight camps are in some of the most spectacularly beautiful ablation valley locations imaginable. Six days on this glacier bring us to what has become known as "Sam Gong", which lies directly opposite the stunning Sosbun Brak and the array of granite spires comprising the west Biafo wall. From here our route across the southern arm of Snow Lake to the Hispar pass is clearly visible, whilst to the north the vast basin of Snow lake opens out apparently to infinity. Crossing to the pass, the-magnificent un- climbed north face of the Baintha Brak (7285 meters) comes into view for the first time. Looking back across snow lake gives a feeling of vast snowy space, without a' hint of vegetation. Then we descend the awesome mountains of the Hispar watershed are revealed; Kanjut Sar, Distaghil Sar, PumoriGhnish and kinyangGhhish to name only the most significant. Finally we drop down from the ablation zone beside the snout of the glacier and cross a bridge to the green fields of Hispar village, where we meet our jeeps for the short ride via Nagar to Karimabad, the ancient capitals of Nagar and Hunza kingdoms. Hunza the Shangri-La of Kipling offers a magnificent view of snow covered peaks. Drive to Gilgit and flight to Islamabad.
